A Yellow Autumn Day in the Country Garden

  1. Nice banksia. I like your squashes with flower attached too - very pretty. Do you eat the flowers like zucchini flowers?

    1. Yes the Banksias and other natives in the Country Garden surrounding Cellar Door are gorgeous, I should do a post one day. Nothing at all to do with me, but lovely to look at!

      I stuffed the squash flowers with fresh herbed cheese and fried them. They were delicious, and seemed easier to stuff than zucchini flowers as they were a bit wider at the base. The squash were tiny but it was still worth doing. I also coated the squash that had already lost their flowers in egg and flour and fried them as well.

  2. I just made a fresh ricotta cheese that would go so well inside those squash blossoms! It will still be some weeks before our squashes are blooming though :(

    1. Oh yes, I think i've bookmarked your ricotta recipe, I must try making it. It's so funny how our vegetable seasons are different if yours bloom in late Spring and ours bloom in late summer/autumn.
